In the afternoon, September 5, 2018, in Hanoi, the General Statistics Office (GSO) had a courtesy reception for the expert delegation from the Statistics Denmark to visit and work with the GSO to study the possibility of piloting some activities using administrative data for official statistics. Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO, chaired the reception. The expert delegation of Statistics Denmark included Mr. Jesper Ellemose Jensen, Senior Advisor, International Consulting, Statistics Denmark and Ms. Silja Emmel, Head of Section in International Consulting, Statistics Denmark. The reception was attended by representatives of the Population and Labour Statistics Department, the Social and Environmental Statistics Department, the Foreign Statistics and International Cooperation Department, the Institute of Statistics Science, GSO.
This is the next activity under the cooperation program between the Statistics Denmark and the GSO in order to propose the development of the technical assistance program in the use of administrative data for official statistics since 2016. The working program from September 05 to September 07, 2018 focuses on the following contents: (1) Continuing to find out about the activities that have been implemented since 2016 on the prospect of using administrative data for official statistics in Vietnam; (2) Discussing the technical assistance to pilot the use of administrative data in the field of education statistics, population statistics (focus on civil registration and vital statistics – CRVS) and environmental accounts; (3) Overview of monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG); (4) Overview of present thinking and strategies related to Big Data – Potential data sources in Vietnam.
