From April 1 to 5, 2019, Technical Support Team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Mr. Serkan Arslanalp - Deputy Division Chief of Strategy, Standards, and Review Division of IMF’s Statistics Department and Mrs. Deepti Devi Vidyala - Information Management Officer of IMF’s Statistics Department visited and worked with the General Statistics Office (GSO) - Vietnam’s coordination agency for e-GDDS (enhanced-General Data Dissemination System), Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Vietnam to assist Vietnam in improving the e-GDDS towards the goal of fully complying with SDDS (Special Data Dissemination Standard) by 2020.
In the working program, the experts guided Vietnam to develop and complete the contents in order to put the National Summary Data Page (NSDP) into operation by the end of June 2019. The launch of the NSDP will be an important milestone reflecting Vietnams efforts in implementing its commitments to the international community, including continuous improvements in dissemination of statistical data. At the same time, the IMF’s experts also helped Vietnam reach IMFs SDDS, an important international standard for countries to access to international capital markets. The data on the NSDP will be provided by three agencies including GSO, Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Vietnam.
At the end of the business trip, the GSO listened to the experts report on the working results.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong – Deputy Director General of GSO acknowledged the contributions of the experts from IMF in particular and the support of the IMF in general in the activities of the GSO. At the same time, the units under GSO were also tasked to coordinate with ministries, line-ministries in order to put the NSDP into official operation in the first 6 months of 2019 towards the implementation of SDDS by the end of 2020.
