The 23th statistical mission from Republic of Korea headed by Mr. Eun Sun Hyun, Director General for Statistical Data Hub Bureau, Statistics Korea (KOSTAT), visited and worked with the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) from April 22 to 27, 2019.
In the morning, April 23, 2019, in Hanoi, the GSO had a courtesy reception for the mission from KOSTAT. Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO, chaired the reception. Attending this event were representatives of leaders of related units under the GSO.
During the working days of KOSTAT in Vietnam, two parties focus on discussing and sharing experiences on the following topics: (1) Development and operation of Big Data Center; (2) Civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS); (3) Statistical data visualization; (4) Assessment of civil servants’ capacity; (5) Local statistical activities.
At the reception, Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO welcomed the mission of KOSTAT and expressed his appreciation and thanks for the positive and effective support of the KOSTAT for Vietnam Statistics in the past time, which has contributed to enhance the capacity of civil servants in the Statistics of Vietnam as well as the professional competence of the Statistics. He hoped that after this visit of the KOSTAT delegation, Vietnam Statistics could learn from the experience of the KOSTAT and both parties would help each other in strengthening the statistical activities that both parties care about and discuss on.
Also within the framework of the mission, the KOSTAT delegation will visit and work with provincial statistical offices of Quang Ninh province and Da Nang City to learn about Vietnams statistical activities in the localities.
